The "RYE BAY 10" is 10' - 0" long with a 5' beam and a dry weight of 85lb (38kg) for a maximum crew of 3. This results in a much roomier boat for her size. Built from plywood with 9mm bottom panel and 6mm sides, she presents very little extra work than her smaller sister. She can be rowed, motored or sailed but the plans do not detail a sail rig. We have been told that a Mirror dinghy mainsail rig was adapted to this design and worked very well. She was originally intended as a motor runabout but would lend herself to sailing as well.Buoyancy tanks can be fitted fore and aft detailed in the plans. The pictures show the prototype which is still in use today. It was built with a straight tapered stem but the plans detail the normal RYEBAY stem which could be slightly rounded for a more pleasing look.
 
The "RYE BAY 12" is 12' - 0" long with a 5' - 4" beam and a dry weight of 130lb (59kg) approx. for a maximum crew of 4. Built from plywood with 9mm bottom panel and 6mm sides as with the 10' version, she presents very little extra work than her smaller sister. She can be rowed or motored but the plans do not detail a sail rig as this design was primarily intended as a motor runabout. However, details of how a rig could be adapted to fit this boat are included. Indeed, a Mirror dinghy rig could be adapted to this design. There are buoyancy tanks fore and aft detailed in the plans. The first boat was built with a straight tapered stem but the plans detail a new stem which takes out the two straight sections and brings the plank panels together giving the stem a rounded curve for a more pleasing look.
